Best Reasons to Get Married in Boston and New England
It’s the birthplace of America offering both historic glimpses of our past and modern testaments to where we are some 200 years later.
Within a four hour car ride, you can be taking in a play on Broadway in New York City, wiling away the hours on the idyllic islands of Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket, skiing in the White Mountains of New Hampshire or Vermont, visiting the mansions of Newport, or enjoying a good old fashioned lobster bake in Maine.
New England is a great place to visit anytime, but if you’ve never visited us in the fall, you will be greeted with Mother Nature’s best artistic renderings. As the leaves change New England is a riot of colors with the most amazing reds, oranges, yellows and greens that you will ever see. Couple that with the blue sky on a crisp fall day and you will think you’ve died and gone to heaven.
World class sports teams – New England Patriots (football American style of course), Boston Celtics (basketball), and the Boston Red Sox (baseball).
We can boast that we are the home of some of the finest and best known Universities in the world – Harvard, Boston College, Yale, Brown, Tufts, Wesleyan, and Brandeis to name but a few.
Every bar in Boston is like the bar in the television show “Cheers.” By the end of the night, everybody will know your name.
The dollar is weak making the U.S. more affordable overall for our foreign clients.
Great food, great shopping, great music, great times and a wicked good fireworks show on the 4th of July with the Boston Pops Symphony Orchestra. Around every corner, there’s a new adventure waiting to happen.
My daughter and son-in-law chose to hold their destination wedding at Hampshire College in Amherst, MA. After meeting Terri, I was confident that she would create the right atmosphere for my only child’s wedding. From the first meeting Terri asked all the right questions and honed right in on what my daughter and her fiance wanted for their wedding. To say that the wedding had an eclectic theme and not your run of the mill traditional wedding would be an understatement. Terri and Janice, her associate embraced all of their ideas and desires and guided them along the way to their wonderful wedding day. Terri and Janice’s work not only met but exceeded all of our expectations.
I would highly recommend Terri and Janice to anyone who is planning a wedding. I got to enjoy every minute leading up to the day of wedding and the day itself. That time was a priceless gift that I will forever appreciate.
I could not have asked for better service from Terri. The wedding was absolutely beautiful. Having a destination wedding certainly provided unique challenges but Terri was able to make everything incredibly easy for me. Terri had custom made centerpieces, favors and more all sent to Mexico for us. When we arrived at the reception the tables were gorgeous. I didn’t have to lift a finger and she somehow managed to have everything taken care of. I would highly recommend Something Borrowed, Something New Events. I wish I could get married all over again every year and this is all thanks to Terri.

Glen Manor ~ Portsmouth, RI
Glen Manor is the masterpiece of famed architect John Russell Pope who was also responsible for designing the Jefferson Memorial in Washington DC. The design for “The Glen” as it’s lovingly nicknamed, was inspired by the French Petit Trianon of Versailles and was quite unique for its period. Completed in 1923 for the Taylor’s, the property remained in the family until 1953 when it was then sold to the Sisters of the Sacred Heart who moved their Elmhurst School from Providence to Glen Manor. The town of Portsmouth purchased the property via a bond offering in 1972 and the Portsmouth Historical Society has been responsible for its oversight ever since.
Just minutes from historic Newport, the Glen Manor House stands proudly overlooking the banks of the Sakonnet River. This gorgeous French chateau with its extensive terraces and formal gardens combines both elegance and the relaxed atmosphere of a country estate.
The Glen Manor House offers everything you would expect from an elite wedding facility, and the location is superb. With just one wedding per day, this Portsmouth mansion is the perfect venue for an unforgettable wedding ceremony and reception.

Best times to get married in New England
New England is beautiful all year round, but we are arguably best known for our amazing Autumns. Since New England is a fairly large area you will get the best color in the northern regions beginning in mid to late September with color spreading further south as we move through October.
Being a true four season region, New England can cater completely to whatever season happens to be your favorite time of year however. High season occurs from April through the end of October through much of the region although areas that tend to be more tourist oriented have a shorter high season with the summer months through Columbus Day being the busiest.
